The Van Gogh Museum holds a collection of paintings, prints, etchings and correspondence by the famed (though the fame came post-mortem) Vincent van Gogh, who cut off his own ear and committed su***de at the rise of his success. Actually, only one of his paintings ever sold during his lifetime, though now his work goes for millions and is showcased around the world.
