Calango is led by motion director / designer Jeroen Krielaars. Working with a trusted network of freelancers, Calango is able to work on projects of all scales. The approach is build up of three elements. Those elements rarely stand alone and mostly overlap quite a bit. They are well integ

rated and form the holy trinity of Calango.

1.Direction

First we look and listen. Then we give direction. From the heart and from the head. Good integration of your experience and our point of view are key to create outstanding work. Whenever necessary we orchestrate illustrators, animators, designers, cameramen, sound composers and actors.

2. Design

A clear sense of aesthetics is at the core of our design process. We keep it simple, strong and consistent, but appreciate a touch of spontaneity. We make rules and break them here and there. A strong love for geometry and typography are large influences on our handwriting.

3. Motion

Motion is the fourth dimension that makes our work stand out. Motion design and graphic design are seamlessly integrated in our creative process. From branding to commercials. For TV, online or on stage. We make it move in a surprising and elegant way.

Waar Amsterdam Eet translates to Where Amsterdam Eats and is a food platform for and by locals. Six young women each curate their own selection of restaurants and bars throughout the city.

My excitement is reaching interstellar levels! I'm happy to tell you Franchise Animated is shortlisted for the very prestigious Design Of The Year 2015, by the Design Museum of London.

Great to join the ranks alongside Pentagram, Irma Boom, Sawdust, and other top level creatives.

New work! Excited to show you the opening titles I did for Typomad 2014, which took place in Madrid last weekend.

Typomad is a typography festival in Madrid, Spain. This year's theme was 'oculto' (or 'The Hidden Part of Type'). Calango was invited to produce this year's opening titles.

Taking the theme and identity colors as a starting point, we made a small visual game for each of the speakers. It was used to hide or reveal their initials.

Yesterday the new Animography Monthly went live. Steffen Knoesgaard produced a stunning motion piece about geometric algebra. He used our animated typeface Mantis to add in a quote by William Kingdon Clifford, a legend in his field.

As my son is almost 1 year old, I'm gathering all the footage I shot of him during his first twelve months on earth. Being the motion designer that I am, I am preparing 12 different idents loosely based on his favourite toy. (Mula stacking cups by Ikea, http://www.ikea.com/nl/nl/catalog/products/80021008/) This is the first one. Any students willing to make a nice sound design for this using toy instruments?
