👋Wusstest du schon, dass die Antigua jetzt auch ein Decksalon hat? Wo man gemütlich ein Buch lesen kann, sich aufwärmen nach einem Landgang oder nachdem Segelsetzen mit einer Tasse Kaffee oder Tee. Damit man nichts verpasst, kann man ganz toll aus dem Fenster schauen und Ausschau halten nach Eisbären oder Walen.

Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen durfte ich in den letzten Monaten in Spitzbergen viel erleben, darunter drei schöne Segelschiffreisen mit Arctica Expeditions A S und Tallship Antigua. Der Reiseblog hat in dieser Zeit viel Futter bekommen, und es lohnt sich, nachträglich dort noch einmal mitzukommen!

Dann habe ich noch etwas Facebook-Pause gemacht 😊 was auch mal schön war, aber nun bin ich wieder öfter online. Es wird auch einiges zu berichten geben.

In contrast to many others, I have been lucky to have spent quite some time in Spitsbergen now, including three stunning trips under sail, with Arctica Expeditions A S and Tallship Antigua. Tallship Antigua arrived safe in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen, after several weeks on sea. The first guests arrived on board the 13th of August. What a great feeling after being laid-up for almost a year and a half!

Good morning,

A fantastic year comes to an end. What great impressions and wonderful scenery we enjoyed this year. Up North.........in the high Arctic........there we had been for so many months. It’s kind of heart breaking to get further and further away from that so magical place called Svalbard.
So many great people on board, deep in a human governing environment. Hard to explain when we are back surrounded by our lovely’s.

Still enjoying the Norwegian coast. Tomorrow we will round Stadlandet and wait for fair winds to cross the North Sea.
We are passioned and motivated to sail the Lady Antigua back home to Fryslân.

See ya soon beautiful Svalbard, I’ll miss you.

We are underway to Harlingen. Last night we crossed the polar circle. Fair winds bringing us further south. All hands on deck. E-NE and 18 knots of wind. 8-9 knots of speed. We passed Rørvik already and planning our passage around Stadlandet. The crew and the captains friends are busy pulling the ropes. More speed they want. Working out good.

After 15 days sailing in Svalbard waters Antigua is back in Longyearbyen. On all these projects they worked. Wonderful presentations showed. A ship full of enthusiasts people which all enjoyed Spitsbergen on there own way. It was fantastic cold. A lot of ice and glaciers. All hands on deck and we sailed through a wonderful Szenerie and suddenly silence on deck. All we heard was a turning steering wheel, those waves around us and a fair wind. Which brought us to breath-taking fjords.

We wish you al a safe travel home!
Thanks for everything.

Tomorrow Tallship Antigua will depart from Longyearbyen for her crossing via the Barents Sea to Tromsø.

And here we go again. 14 days of pure nature and the winter is coming closer. It’s freezing and slowly the ice is coming back. 28 artists on board to conquer Svalbard. The most beautiful guiding team to show all those magical spots! We all looking forward to be amazed by Spitsbergen again. We will see what will happen......imaqa!

Und die Crew der Antigua und ihre Gäste haben auch wieder viel Abfall auf ihren Reisen in der Arktis eingesammelt :-)

World Cleanup Day is coming up on September 15! Did you know that you can help the Arctic by taking part in cleanups in other parts of the world? The Arctic is a dead-end for marine litter transported by ocean currents but you can help stop the flow before it reaches the Arctic. Events will be organized worldwide. Check with your local council or consult this website for regional information. If there is nothing organised near you, why not organize a small scale cleanup with your friends and family or go plogging. Our environmental agent Sarah lives in Tromsø, a coastal city north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. There is no shortage of waste along the outer coast and on some of the smaller islands. On 15 September, she will join Zing Ocean Conservancy, a volunteer group working with local boat tour operators to take people to remote locations for cleanups. In a similar way to AECO members, the local operators have chosen to support this initiative as it looks after the beautiful places they take their guests to. Join us in being part of the solution! After a few weeks Antigua will arrive tomorrow in Longyearbyen again! 4 weeks, nearly 3000 miles, 50 spotted bears, lot of walruses and whales so many beautiful impressions! Sailed full rigged around the South cape and made 10.5 knots. So many happy people. Rossøya and Kvitøya we made. Followed the old Conquerer tracks. So much Trapper History. Thnx all you great people for joining us. Rolf Stange and Kristina (Spitzbergen.de) Danke Danke Danke! Alex thnx! Many thanks to the Antigua Crew! Nothing without you. Captain Mario will leave on Monday. And be back in October. Kevin will take over and will sail many more great Antigua trips!

We are back in Longyearbyen! After a two week trip with a lot of artists and such amazing guides, here’s our review.......first day blue whales and polar bears. A mother with two cubs on a piece of floating ice....what a magic moment. We took our jumpers off and sun bathed, it was so sunny! We SAILED all the way up to Rossøya and back - the most northern point of Spitsbergen. Even more polar bears later, such a lot of wildlife! It was tough work for the all of us to keep her sailing. Night watches, landings, hikes, and I heard so often........how can we explain all of this back home? I don’t know......... join us for your own Svalbard experience on Tallship Antigua!

Volgende week dinsdag is het zover. Dan vertrekt zeilschip de Antigua weer voor een avontuurlijke cruise rond Spitsbergen! De reizen met de Antigua voeren soms tot aan de rand van het pakijs en dwars door de habitat van walrussen, zeehonden, walvissen en ijsberen.

Hello! We are back in Longyearbyen. What a great trip we had! All the way to Hinlopenstretet. So much Wildlife we encountered. Great sailing and a lot of ice. Off we go again today. A ship full of artist this upcoming trip. What kind of adventures we will experience during this trip? Again a polar bear with two cups 10 Meter in front Antigua? We hope so!

We had a wonderful trip! We experienced so many adventures! And finally we found a polar bear the last day just before heading to Longyearbyen. Unfortunately to far away to take a proper picture of it.
We left Longyearbyen again and heading up north, to take a look at the ice.
