FreeTours Volendam A walking tour in the most traditional town of the Netherlands given by local students! Tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays.

FreeTours Volendam works with a Pay-what-you-want (PWYW) system for our Free Walking Tours, allowing you to decide what a tour is worth to you. On weekdays, tours are held on a fixed price-basis, as it requires a little bit more planning to make sure our students can fit a tour into their busy schedules. Now on to the tour; our Free Walking Tours consist of a journey through the historic heart of

Volendam, paying special attention to history, (contemporary) culture, catholic heritage, our history as an art colony, our fishermen's heritage, and many more such exciting topics. You will join a group of a maximum of ten people for a 1/1,5 hour tour through the town, taking you past our most interesting and quaint locations, giving you the ins and outs of what cool things you can engage in. Tours are offered either in Dutch or in English, depending on group composition. Special care is taken to take the corona-measures into account, making sure everybody can keep their distance from one another. Bookings can be made through:

A lot of people visiting our village are interested in the history and opportunities that Volendam has to offer. Often locals are asked what people can do in the village and why millions of people visit it yearly. Often visitors leave the village without even understanding the uniqueness that Volendam offers!

Our goal is to live the history. We show how a few fishermen started a huge community which is still functioning in 2018. We want to show the village in a unique way and educate the people that join us. All our tour guides are local students who have lived their whole live in the village. They will tell you all about the history and the modern life.

You come as a tourist and leave as a local!
