Did you know that Edvard Munch was so hipp that he used to live in one of Oslo’s hippest areas, known for its street art, stylish bars, dance clubs and mellow cafes? The truth is slightly different, however. Todays hipp Grünerløkka was once a workers area, with very poor housing but thanks to gentrification now has become very trendy living and working space. At the time when Munch moved to Grünerløkka he was only few years old, far away from being trendy especially as he was frequently moving with his family from one location to another in search for the cheaper accommodation. But living in the area inspired Munch to incorporate Grünerløkka’s motifs into his paintings so we can witness how much has the neighborhood changed. Would you like to see it for yourself? We invite you to our Street food tour and a walk along the Grünerløkka to see how time has transformed this once the most populous area.

Much has been said about Edvard Munch, one of the most famous Norwegian artists, and many people that visit Oslo, pay respect to the artist by visiting his museum in Bjørvika area, but what many people don’t know is that Munch spent most of his childhood and final days all around Oslo. Although M...

Yesterday we were super lucky with such beautiful Northern Lights in Oslo 😍
The chance for today is still pretty good so if the sky is clear then give it a shot! 😍✌️ You can check the forecast here: https://site.uit.no/spaceweather/data-and-products/aurora/
Don’t forget to get out of the light pollution! A great place to watch the lights is for example Sognsvann (only about 15 min from Oslo S by subway) 🤗

There are many ice skating locations in the city, both in the open or closed arena but most them are situated a bit further from the city center. Have you been wondering about what might be those small memorial blocks that are placed all over the pavements of Oslo? 👀
'Snublesteiner' are part of an ongoing art project started by a German artist Gunter Demnig in 1992. By installing these memorial blocks with engraved name, date of birth and ex*****on or persecution of the victim, Demnig wanted to commemorate last living or working residency of Jewish individuals.
Today over 400 hundred snublesteiners are located in Oslo, most of them in Grünerløkka where Jewish families used to live. In fact, the last of Oslo's snublkesteiner was placed in Akershusstranda on 1st September 2022.
If you find yourself in Oslo, we invite you on our Street food tour that passes this neighborhood so we remember the million lives lost and together agree that this shameful chapter of human history should never ever be repeated. 🖤

The recent Memorial of Holocaust Remembrance and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, marked every January 27th, encouraged us to write about the snublesteiners placed all over the city of Oslo.
