Offshore Sailing Refresher Evening, Monday 19 March 1800-1930

As part of a forthcoming series of Monday evening events to enhance Offshore Sailing skills, this is an invite to JSSC members who are Day Skippers and/or Competent Crew who would like to refresh their knowledge of the JSSC yacht (the Aurelius II) ahead of the 2018 sailing season.

The aim is a full re-familiarization of the yacht promoting confidence and knowledge for Skippers and Competent Crew. This is an ‘alongside’ event at Ulsnes Naval Base which starts at 1800 and lasts for one and a half hours. If you would like to attend, please let Kevin Carter know by contacting him on Ext 9373 at JWC.

Hello all and Happy Holidays!

The sailing club needs help winterizing the Madla Boathouse!

Understanding that this is the first day of the winter break, the Sailing Club is requesting whatever assistance you can provide.

We will have a trailer onsite to carry loads to the trash centre, go through equipment to sort usable from unusable, and generally provide a general cleanup and boat maintenance.

A coffee maker will be provided to get your spirits lifted at the beginning.

Please ask if you have questions. Andy Moffat is building a to-do list so expect taskings upon arrival.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Being a new sailor can be daunting, but don't let it stop you! Just be sure to be smart, be safe and don't let this guy instruct you on sailing methods! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxg30c6z00E

Unfortunately, mishaps like this are not a very rare occurrence in the BVI's... this was just an extreme case and we happened to have the camera running from...

Two Dart 16 courses down but plenty more courses available! We have the final Dart 16 course beginning Monday next week (18th-21st), followed by 3 Adult Dinghy Courses and a Children's Dinghy Course in June. Sign up now with Martin Meijer. Contact details are on the sailing club website http://www.jwcssc.weebly.com.

22/04/2015

The dinghy season is starting soon with Marten Meijer running a Dart Dinghy Course on May 4th-7th. The Madla boat house is still in “winter storage” mode so the boats need to be moved out and rigged with masts and the boat house needs a general cleaning. The pier needs to be cleared of the barriers and a wash down of the accumulated winter debris.

We need a working party! Come and join us and bring your friends, your family and potential club members! Many hands make light work.

We’re looking at two days, April 27th & 28th, starting at 1600 at the Madla boathouse. JWC will just be wrapping up the current exercise, but if you have time please come along to lend a hand. If you know of other people who would want to participate, please pass the message.

21/04/2015

Dan Walker is looking for interested sailors on May 16th and needs a skipper. Any interested skippers and/or comp crew should contact him for a great day of sailing!
