Bisket Jatra, Bhaktapur
Commonly known as Biska Jatra is an annual event in Bhaktapur, Dhapasi Thimi and Tokha and other places in Nepal. The festival is celebrated at the start of the new year on the Bikram Sambat calendar, however, the festival itself is not related to Bikram Sambat. Bisket Jatra, celebrated in Bhaktapur, is a nine-day eight-night festival that witnesses many participants along with thousands of visitors which involves erecting a lingo (pole), pulling of chariots of deities, worshiping them, and much merrymaking.

Though no one knows the exact date of the Bisket Jatra, there are many legends associated with it. Legend has it that this celebration is the "festival after the death of the serpent". Various areas of Bhaktapur city celebrate this festival according to their own rituals. The most eventful places are Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Thimi Balkumari. A chariot carrying a statue of the God Bhairava is pulled by hundreds of people to the Khalla Tole. Approximately a month earlier, the chariot is assembled near the Nyatapola temple (five stair temple).

The signature event on Bhaktapur Tamadhi is a tug-of-war between the Thane (upper) and Kone (lower) part of town. An approximately 25 meter Yoh si Dyo is erected in the yosi khyo In the evening of New Year. The Yoh si is pulled down as the New Year officially commences.

Festival of Nepal : Ghode Jatra 2019

Ghode Jatra is a big festival in Kathmandu Valley which is held to ward off Gurumapa demon. It is organised and performed by Nepal Army and Police force in late March or early April. The equestrian parade and the competition takes place at Tundikhel, a large grass-covered ground in the center of Kathmandu, one of its most important landmarks. According to a legend, a demon is hiding under Tundikhel, so a horse race, cycle race and acrobatic shows are supposed to scare him off. There is a belief that the parade of horses at Tundikhel keeps the demon's spirit away. Ghode Jatra is originally a festival of Newar people. It is a cast of Nepali in the Kathmandu valley. The celebration includes worshipping Goddess Bhadrakali and Kankeswari. Those deities are paraded through the streets of Asan Tole on the eve of the festival. Rafting In Nepal

Nepal has a reputation for being one of the best places in the world for white water rafting, The shorter trips are hugely accessible, even to beginners, while a few of the longer trips are world classics, offering the experience of a lifetime. As well as the tranquillity of being deep in the countryside, away from towns and roads, rafting offers the thrills, laughter and companionship that comes from shooting rapids. Then there’s the sheer escapism of life on the river, camping on white-sand beaches, campfires under the stars, warm water (most rivers in Nepal are at lower, semitropical elevations), jungle-clad slopes,
wildlife and birds.

The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Khwopa, which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. It is a conglomeration of pagoda and shikhara-style temples grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. The square is one of the most charming architectural showpieces of the Valley as it highlights the ancient arts of Nepal. The golden effigies of kings perched on the top of stone monoliths, the guardian deities looking out from their sanctuaries, the wood carvings in every place-struts, lintels, uprights, tympanums, gateways and windows-all seem to form a well-orchestrated symphony. The main items of interest in the Durbar Square are: The Lion Gate, The Golden Gate, The Palace of Fifty-five Windows, The Art Gallery and The Statue of King Bhupatindra Malla.
