Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Balkrishna Tamang. Friends call me "Bal" .

My roots lie in Kakani, a beautiful village about 25km North of the centre of Kathmandu . A long time ago my parents came to Kathmandu to find jobs and in this way, I was born in Kathmandu . I started my career as a porter during which time I really got a chance to share Nepal's history, culture and nature with others. Doing so, I got in touch with many interesting visitors from all corners of the

world. This positive working experience encouraged me to perceive further and in 1985 I succeeded in becoming a government licenced guide! Nowadays, I still live in Kathmandu with Purnima and Biswas (my wife and son). We live in a modest rented home. When I don't travel from home for my work, I do humanitarian work in the villages or I help Purnima with her work (which is selling banana's at Durbar Square) . For me being a guide is not just my job, It is what I do best and it is what I love to do.
