Haritalika Teej - Festival of Nepali Women
Haritalika Teej is an auspicious occasion that holds a great significance to the married Hindu women of Nepal and is a festival that strengthens the bonding among married couples.
The three-day festival is observed with great devotion and enjoyment as women in red dance and sing to folk songs, join feasts, and keep rigid fasts. During the festival, women offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for the longevity and well-being of their spouse and children as well as for the purification self.
Nepali women are seen in vibrant colors of clothes, bangles, threads, and garlands, visting Shiva temples. The festival falls in the month of August- Shrawan/Bhadra. It is a festival of color, love, devotion and sisterhood.

Repost: Nepal Tourism Board

Today is Kushe Aunsi or Father's Day in Nepal. The date is set as per lunar calendar and usually falls on the new moon day in the first week of Bhadra or mid August. As per tradition, the day is celebrated by visiting one's father with gifts and sweets as father and children spend quality time together.

The day is specially relevant in terms of today's busy world where grown up and married children get little time to spend with their aging parents and is a happy reminder of a pause in normal activities to value and honor a special relationship.
