Annapurna ABC TREK
This is a classic trek, visit Annapurna Base Camp (4,130M.) - all within the Annapurna Conservation Area.
The Annapurna is a Sanskrit name which literally means "full of food", but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests. Annapurna area was first explored by the British adventurer Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts in 1950 and referred to it as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. To this day it has been referred to as Annapurna Sanctuary.
The trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is varied in landscape, vegetation, high altitudes, culturally rich villages, hardy people, and constant views of the enormous snow-capped peaks.
Annapurna base camp is widely known as ABC but it is also called the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek The accommodation on the trek is great with enough teahouses along the way allowing the trekker to rest and meet the locals. The trail is often steep and sometimes descends just as quickly, at times on weathered stone steps. Trekkers will be in awe of the massive mountains that suddenly confront them, best viewpoint such as holiy mountains called Hiunchuli, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Annapurna South and all Annpurna peaks we can see.
The best time to take this trek is in spring when the Nepalis national flower Rhododendron forests are in full bloom, their vibrant pink flowers in stark contrast to the rocky landscape. Nevertheless, this is an all year round trek with loads to see!
Close up views of the vertical south face of Annapurna I (world 10th highest mountain- 8,091M.) will leave you spellbound. towering above the sanctuary to the northwest. The mornings are best for viewing these peaks as the sun reflects in different colors off the glistening snow. Other huge peaks seen from ABC are Tharpu Chuli (5663m), Singu Chuli (6501m), Hiunchuli (6,441M.) and South Annapurna (7,219M.).
