Happy Ghode Jatra!
Ghode Jatra, the horse parade, is celebrated in annually on new-moon day in Chaitra (mid-March or early April). On this day, the Nepal Army organizes a special horse parade at commemorating the victory over the demon Tundi and to keep him underground with the horses galloping over its grave. It also lies on the 2nd day of three-day festival "Pāhān Charhe (पाहां चह्रे)” celebrated with great fanfare by Kathmandu’s Newar community in the valley. While the army cavalry performs its acts at Tundikhel, small chariots carrying the idols of many gods and goddesses are paraded by locals in different areas of Kathmandu.

Sharing this unique photo of yaks crossing Himalayan stream somewhere in the Kanchenjunga region of East Nepal. This beautiful region with towering Himalayan peaks rising over 7,000 m towards the north is a mix of Alpine grasslands, rocky outcrops, dense temperate, sub-tropical forests, and low river valleys. Keeping animals for milk, food and labor is an important occupation of the Limbu people indigenous to the region. The picture shares just a glimpse of life and habitat of these animals in the highlands, perhaps a camera perfect moment for the avid trekker!
