Mr.Nick Zuniga and Mrs. Minnar Xia, are couple from United States , staying at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania . Just a day before the earthquake on April 25th, they had booked their flight to visit Nepal but they did not cancel their trip because they wanted to support the economic growth in this difficult time. Mr. Nick is a medical Student doing B.S. degree and Minnar is working volunteer for Refugee people since 4 years. They have joined Hidden Journeys with us for two days- 5th & 6th August, 2015.
First day, they started with a visit to Women Dream's workshop and the Nepal Healthcare Equipment Development Foundation (NHEDF)'s Recovery Clinic, which is a medical shelter and home for earthquake victims in Kathmandu.From there they went to the social venture friend handicrafts, where felt items are produced by 100 women artisans. Then they stayed at Pasa Chhen homestay at Kirtipur to explore the historic city and Newari culture.
Next day was about an early trip to Bhatedadha to view our Dharti initiative which is a project post earthquake launched to reach out o the vulnerable predominant Tamang community. They also met the local social leader Fulmaya Tamang. The next stop was at the Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled Children at Banepa where they met with the administrative representative and had a tour of the Hospital's various departments. The journey
ended with them joining our reopening celebration of 'A Shop with a Story', our social entrepreneur's collective featuring authentic Nepali products. We are thankful to Mr. Nick and Mrs. Minnar for being a part of our journeys and experiencing Nepal with us.
