What are Sherpas and why are they so important for Mount Everestโ
Sherpas are one of the Tibetan ethnic groups in the mountainous regions of Nepal and they are renowned for their superior climbing skills, and their uttermost endurance to high altitudes.๐ณ๐ต
Nepal profits immensely from Everest and the huge tourism offered by it, as the Sherpas play a huge role in this. ๐ฏ
They plan all the logistics and prepare the route to the summit before the start of each season, in March.
They are expert navigators who help climbers through avalanches, icefalls and extreme altitudes. โ๏ธ
They also help climbers achieve the summit by carrying extra oxygen bottles, food, water and other bags which the climbers have given to them.
Without the Sherpas and their efficient and expert help, Everest would not be what it is today ๐ฎ
