What are Sherpas and why are they so important for Mount Everestโ“
Sherpas are one of the Tibetan ethnic groups in the mountainous regions of Nepal and they are renowned for their superior climbing skills, and their uttermost endurance to high altitudes.๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต
Nepal profits immensely from Everest and the huge tourism offered by it, as the Sherpas play a huge role in this. ๐Ÿ’ฏ
They plan all the logistics and prepare the route to the summit before the start of each season, in March.
They are expert navigators who help climbers through avalanches, icefalls and extreme altitudes. โ›๏ธ
They also help climbers achieve the summit by carrying extra oxygen bottles, food, water and other bags which the climbers have given to them.
Without the Sherpas and their efficient and expert help, Everest would not be what it is today ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

๐Ÿ“ Did you know that Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth which is above sea level at 8,848 meters ๐Ÿ”
Everest is over 60 million years old!
Around 800 people try to summit the mountain yearly!

๐Ÿ“ After Everest, K2 is the second tallest peak in the world, 8,611 meters. K2 is known as the Savage Mountain because of the extreme risks it poses to climbers! ๐Ÿฅพ
Can you believe that it is deadlier than Everest? The weather is much more unpredictable there, and it is much steeper throughout the whole trek. ๐Ÿฅถ

๐Ÿ“ Kangchenjunga is third tallest peak in the world at 8,586 meters. Its name means The Five Treasures of Snows in Tibetan and it includes 5 peaks!
The remote and isolated location adds a difficulty to the trek, as the path to base camp consists of uneven and rocky paths.
There are some steep terrain and glaciers, so it is preferable to have some technical knowledge in rock climbing and ice climbing! โ›๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ Last but not least is Lhotse Mountain, fourth tallest peak on Earth at 8,516 meters. It lies south of Mount Everest and is connected with the South Col. Often, climbers first summit Everest and then go by Lhotse.๐Ÿ’ช
Lhotse has some rocky and icy areas and most of all very limited areas for resting, which poses a challenge!
