🥢🍣 Steve's on an EPIC adventure through some untouched parts of Japan we've been yearning to get to for a while now! Nothing beats a good train ride, and Japan absolutely has plenty of those! 🚉
Shiga Kogen Japan - right now! Thanks to Doug for this snow report ❄️🤭👍☃️ #snowreport #japow

If you've ever wondered what a Polar Vortex looks like ... this is it! -25 degrees at Sun Peaks today, but filled with sunshine, so actually beautiful 😍 Is it skiable I hear you ask? Actually, the answer is yes. But it's SKI > then inside for a hot chocolate, SKI > inside for lunch, SKI > inside for a snack, and so the routine continues! Better Temps are coming, but regardless, I'm so privileged and happy to be in one of the world's most beautiful ski resorts despite the low temps. #polarvortex #happynomatterwhat
Canyon Lights at Capillano Suspension Bridge is absolutely outstanding! With a light display from canyon floor to its forest canopy, this is what one million lights looks like! The Treetops walk was stunning, navigating your way high on a suspended walkway through the park with fairylight views. Darn cold though, so wrap up like you're off skiing 🍁
Apparently, this is not a regular occurrence in Vancouver City, but it sure was pretty! -9 degrees however, coming from a stunning summers day in AKL of 30 degrees made for quite the shock! In for abit of a cold spell across Canada 🇨🇦 over the next few days! #snowcity #vancouversnow
Around every corner of this trip to Korea has been an unsuspecting surprise, and I totally mean that in a good way! We had the pleasure of staying in Seouls #1 hotel, the Grand Hyatt Seoul, where we enjoyed a great line up of live entertainment, including a drag show, while eating fairy floss wrapped around a glow stick (lol) - check it out! #EPICEntertainment 😀 🫶
Arte Museum Gangneung, South Korea. A truly breathtaking multimedia/multisensory art exhibition ✨️ #mesmerisingview #artemuseum
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto-Kawaramachi
CENTRAL KYOTO / GION AREA LOCATION ⛩
My location tick list for Kyoto was to be near Gion to glimpse a Geisha, walk lantern lite streets lined with authentic eateries and bars, be near shops, and walkable to a few major historic sites. I therefore landed up at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Jokyoji, which is right on top of Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station. It was well-priced, had a mysterious moody vibe about it, boasts a gorgeous onsen, and an onsite restaurant. I must warn you that the room felt small, even though it was 24 sq mtrs. Partly to blame is the Hollywood twin (2 singles pushed together), which is a typical bedding setup in Japan. Regardless, the location was perfect being just a 6–7-minute walk to the Gion district, Nishi Markets is less than a 1-minute walk, and the streets around are lined with shops, eateries, shrines, bars, and cafes - it was awesome!
On days I went out of the district, I simply went down to the metro underground and onto a train🚆, it really was that easy. Not that I'm saying negotiating the rail system in Japan is easy though, as it's not, but it’s all part of the adventure! Just don't be in a hurry or on a tight time schedule, as it will take a bit of time to get used to! #kyotokawaramachi
As they say .. eat like the locals 🇨🇦
'Poutine' aka dirty chips 😋
