The Plains Railway & Historical Museum are hosting an open day and have the K88 in action today. Both locations open from 11 am to 4pm today. You could take your Dad along too 😉💚

❄️⛸️Did you make it out to the opening of the season at Staveley Ice Skating & Curling Rinks last weekend? The great news is you can head out to the outdoor rink for another couple of months yet. Opening hours are :
Wednesday 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Saturday 1pm to 5pm, 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Sunday 1pm to 5pm

To top it off, you can call into The Staveley Store before or after and enjoy a hot drink and some delicious food. The store have new opening hours to complement the Ice Skating over winter and have a new winter menu that includes wood fire pizzas 🍕 and 'adult' milkshakes 🥤.

So nice to have a long weekend ahead, think of all the places to explore and the sights to see! Starting on Thursday night the Mid Canterbury Choir presents their very own choir festival at the Ashburton Event Centre which promises to be a choral feast for the ears. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday night our Glow in the Park event will be shining bright at the Ashburton Domain. Smoke Ashburton have arranged live music on Friday and Sunday to keep the good times rolling before and after Glow. The Ashburton Farmers Market will be running their regular winter market on Saturday and The Plains Railway & Historical Museum are holding an open day on Sunday where you can ride the historic Loco K88! Hemsworth Estate are hosting King's Birthday High Tea on Monday at their beautiful grounds and to top it all off, the Ashburton Art Gallery and the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall Methven have a great selection of exhibitions open at their respective galleries.

🌟 Local Talent Spotlight: Meet Ashburton's Young Filmmaker! 🎥 We have some incredible local talent to introduce to you today. Meet Henrik Tawatao, a 20-year-old student on the cusp of completing his final year in the Film and TV Production course at Yoobee College in Christchurch. Henrik didn't start out as a filmmaker; in fact, his journey began as a college hobby. He would make videos for friends and family just for fun. Over time, his knack for videography grew, and he began capturing the magic of small events in our region. This young filmmaker, who's been educated right here in Ashburton at Lagmhor, Ashburton Borough School, and Ashburton College, has his sights set on the big leagues. Henrik hopes to make a mark in the film industry, and we believe he's well on his way to doing just that! But there's more to Henrik than just his filmmaking prowess. He's a local sports enthusiast and, as some of you may know, a former Mid Canterbury junior tennis player. 🎾 In addition, he's an avid supporter of the Crusaders and the All Blacks. It's individuals like Henrik who make our community proud. We're thrilled to share his recent promotional video about our beautiful district.
