As we prepare for site establishment of Te Paerangi Ataata – Sky Song, the National Erebus Memorial, we want to provide assurance that the cherished pōhutukawa tree in Dove-Myer Robinson Park will be safe throughout the entire process.

Here’s how we’re ensuring the tree will remain a protected and well-loved taonga of the Parnell community during and well beyond construction:

- it will remain outside the construction zone
- all works are designed to completely avoid its root system
- any work done in the vicinity of the tree will be done by hand,
under the supervision of an arborist

We’ve asked the experts. Multiple independent arborists have concluded that the memorial poses no risk to the tree, now or in the future.
