We LOVE our new photo frame in Waihola!

A collaborative project with the Clutha Gold Trail Charitable Trust and Waihola Looking Forward. The frame perfectly captures the beautiful Clutha Gold Trail that surrounds Lake Waihola.

Installation was completed today, and we couldn't be happier! Over time, the elements will have their way with this new photo hotspot, gradually turning it into a gorgeous rusted bronze.

Thanks to Royden at Bespoke Engineering Ltd for the incredible work on this design.

How lucky are we to share our coasts with the beautiful hoiho (yellow-eyed penguin), one of the world's rarest penguin species. 🐧

Caution must be taken when trying to view hoiho, as human presence can be very stressful (especially during breeding season), so viewing from a safe distance in a public viewing hide is your best bet. Hides can be found at Nugget Point Tokatā Scenic Reserve (Roaring Bay) and Curio Bay - stick to the paths and avoid going down to the beach.

Here's some tips:
🔎 Use binoculars, instead of approaching or following birds.
⬅️ Keep your distance – 50 metres away at least.
🤫 Talk quietly, move slowly.
🚷 Hide so they can’t see you (squat down low if you can’t hide, so you are not as visible).
🐶 Avoid bringing your dogs.

Did you know, an average yellow-eyed penguin will live to 8.5 years, and are known to swim as far as 50 kilometres off-shore for their food!

We love Naish Park this time of year! 💛 🌳

Naish Park in Balclutha is a great destination to help curb those second-week winter holiday blues, so throw on a coat and get the kids out to burn off some energy at the playground, or check out our feathered friends at the bird aviary! 🐦

Take a stroll through the trees, or hop the fence and walk the Blair Athol walkway along the river bank. And with the Centennial Park Playground and Dog Park only a stones-throw away, the kids and fur babies are spoilt for choice!

Black Gully Track - 2km, over 4 hours (Advanced)
