EXCITING NEWS... Air New Zealand has announced that effective from today, 27 September 2023, all customers travelling on their Domestic and International services with checked baggage are now able to keep tabs on their bag’s journey through the Air NZ App. You can view the latest status of your bag(s) throughout your journey within the App – from check in, on board, to when it arrives at destination. In the unlikely event that a bag hasn’t arrived (and it does sometimes happen), you can select ‘my baggage hasn’t arrived’ and follow the prompted steps to report your delayed bag. This makes travelling a little less stressful in those sometimes stressful situations 🧳

Great News! American Airlines are set to resume flights between Auckland & Los Angeles (LAX). These will be seasonal flights from 21 Dec 23 - 03 Mar 24. With this increased airline competition coming back into the NZ market, its expected to result in cheaper airfares for Kiwi travellers…. 🤗.

My lovebirds are back from their EPIC honeymoon in Thailand. Here’s what they had to say….

I just wanted to say thank you so much again for getting us to Thailand. We approached 3 other travel agents and had a negative experience. The first one actually looked at us like there was no way we could afford a trip (? Racist??)- she didn’t even ask us what our budget was and sent us a quote for 5 days in Phuket even though we had said we wanted 10 days and to include Bangkok. The next agent just stopped replying when we asked to add Bangkok and the other one was just rude and unhelpful. I was so delighted with your communication, diligence and effort to understand our needs. You were thorough and always replied in a timely manner. You also listened to all our anxieties about being first time travellers and made yourself available when we had questions etc. Even when we messaged you from Thailand in a different time zone- you responded immediately. The app you sent us with all our information made the trip an absolute breeze, it was simple, easy to use and kept everything in one place for ease of access.
We had the absolute time of our lives in Thailand and it wouldn’t have been possible without your help. Luckily it was all smooth sailing but I know if we had any glitches we could count on you to help us through them. We are already thinking about our next trip and have already said that we would never fly solo or use another agent again!

Thailand was the brief with a stopover in Bangkok, time in Phuket & a day in Sydney to explore on the way home… but why not add Elephant Hills, a sanctuary for these amazing mammals 🐘 in Khao Sok in Southern Thailand. Splitting city and beach stays with a jungle experience, what an awesome way to see Thailand and get in as much as possible in 10 days! I would not have meet this lovely couple without the referral from one of my long time client Tracey, so thank you for recommending me to your friends. Reminiscing on a trip dad & I took to the Elephant 🐘 Nature Park just outside of Chiang Mai in 2018. It’s an elephant rescue and rehabilitation centre in Northern Thailand where you can volunteer for long periods of time or visit for the day or multiple days. We enjoyed 2 days / 1 night here and it was an unforgettable experience! They’ve been involved in dozens of rescues which have created a thriving elephant herd where they are well cared for. The park provides a natural environment for elephants, dogs, cats, buffaloes and many other animals under its care. Next time you’re in Thailand, take the time to volunteer or just visit as this helps immensely to the rehabilitation of the animals 🤎

It’s a sad day for the Chateau Tongariro Hotel 😢 The iconic hotel will close permanently from the 5th Feb! The hotel infrastructure no longer meets current safety standards due to seismic shifts. The land was leased from the Department of Conservation and after Ruapehu Alpine Lifts entering voluntary administration there’s related uncertainty over the future of the ski resort, says the owner. Discussions are underway with DoC regarding the handover of the property, I wonder what will happen?

Some spare time before our flight back to AKL so we got to the Classic Car Museum in Nelson (approx. 5 mins from airport). Such a cool and very interesting place to spend a couple of hours with over 150 cars in immaculate condition which do get changed with others that are in a safe storage. All owned by one private collector!

Day 3, our final day & we finally got in a good 10km distance in the kayaks from Torrent Bay to Kaiteriteri and all the beaches and bays in between. We saw sea lions 🦭 and native NZ birds while kayaking along the coastline. It truly was stunning and 4 seasons in one day, we were dry, then wet, then dry and then wet 😂 loved every minute. We warmed up along the way with hot coffees and eating yummy lunches supplied by our guide Ian. Not to many pics today: was too busy using my arm strength to paddle! Wilsons taking us back to our hotel at the end of the trip, it truly was a spectacular time away in the NP ❤️

Day 1 of our Abel Tasman NP trip. Picked up from our accommodation in Tahunanui and taken to the Wilson’s HQ in Motueka for our debrief. Then onboard the coach to Kaiteriteri where we boarded our 1.5hr scenic cruise up through the park to our drop off at Waiharakeke Bay. Originally to be dropped at Totaranui but due to the amounts of rain over the past few months that have caused huge slips/landslides in the area we were unable to walk this part of the track. Our leisurely walk from Waiharakeke to Awaroa was around 7km which included a barge crossing (and stingray was spotted). We opted for an extra 45min walk up to the point for spectacular views over the bay. Was a rainy day from start to finish but so beautiful that it didn’t matter. A drying room at Meadowbank Homestead, amazing luxurious accommodation and a 3 course dinner just made the day!
