It’s been a great few weeks since the NZ Government announced new MIQ free travel for fully vaccinated Kiwis!
This is huge news, especially for those looking to catch up with family they haven't seen for such a long time!
Given much of the world are already travelling, we’re seeing many of our favourite experiences and destinations filling up fast, so even if you’re not planning to travel until 2023, it’s definitely not too early to start booking your travel plans now

We now have a 5 step plan to fully re-open New Zealand's borders, the first two steps are key for many of us allowing fully vaccinated Kiwis to visit friends and family or holiday to those countries whose borders allow it.

Step One - (28 February) allows vaccinated Kiwis coming home from Australia to return and self-isolate at home for 7-10 days.

Step Two - (14 Mar) extends to vaccinated Kiwis coming home from the rest of the world.

Here are the deals announced to day

From 28 February 2022, fully-vaccinated New Zealanders and eligible travellers living in Australia, will be able to visit or return to New Zealand without staying in MIQ.
Self-isolation requirements will be the same as for contacts isolating in the community. This will be for 10 days if our Omicron response is still in the first phase, and will reduce to seven days during phases two and three. Isolating travellers need to complete self-administered Rapid Antigen Tests during self-isolation and return a negative before leaving self-isolation.
From 14 March, vaccinated New Zealanders and eligible travellers, skilled workers and those on a working holiday visa, living anywhere in the world can enter New Zealand without staying in MIQ.
Eligible travellers include New Zealand citizens, permanent residents or resident visa holders, holders of a critical purpose visas or partners of a holder of a critical purpose visa.
A new traveller declaration system will be used from 31 March to provide relevant information at the border, including vaccination status, test results and where travellers have been prior to arriving in New Zealand.
All other visa holders will be able to enter New Zealand in stages over the next eight months, starting on 13 April.

GREAT NEW FOR TRAVEL TO THE COOK ISLANDS

Omicron – borders remain open

Cook Island Government held a cabinet meeting where they confirmed that their borders will remain open.

There are no changes at this stage to the requirements – which are:
• Been in NZ or Cook Islands for at least 10 days prior to travelling
• Fully vaccinated
• Produce a negative PCR test within 48 hours of scheduled departure time
• Completion of the online Cook Islands Ministry of Health travel declaration form no earlier than 96 hours prior to departure
• Children under 12 can only enter the country if they are double vaccinated.
