This is a story about camping, bad weather, and the kindness of good people.

Our Airbnb is booked this weekend, and with a camping trip on the horizon, we were gearing up for a couple of days of R & R but bad weather put a dampener on things 🙄 I don’t know about you, but camping in the wind & rain is not for me but thanks to our friends at Ohana Lodge NZ, this tale took an unexpected turn & we now find ourselves staying at this lovely Taupō Airbnb!

So, without further ado, here’s our review:
Ohana Lodge is the epitome of family friendly. 3 spacious bedrooms with super comfy beds, a big bathroom with two-person shower and bath, and a kitchen with all the essentials, it's the ultimate chill spot. Movie nights? Sorted with the big screen TV with Sky & all the apps. It's warm, quiet, and has a killer back deck with fully fenced yard for your dog. Speaking of dogs, there’s toys galore here which sent Bodhi into overdrive when we arrived 🤦🏼‍♀️ Basically, it just feels good to be here. But what truly sets Ohana Lodge apart is the spirit of generosity that flows through its walls. Ohana Lodge really is a home away from home ❤️

This is a PSA to anyone visiting Taupō - run, don’t walk to Baked With Love Taupo & order the creamy mushrooms, bacon & poached egg on toasted sourdough. OH.MY.GOD 🤤

Kicking off Testimonial Tuesday with our latest review! If there’s one thing I am very particular about it’s linen, so it’s nice when people notice 😍

After each guest departs, our sheet sets, duvet covers & towels are all soaked in Oxyaction, then washed with quality liquid detergent, line dried & ironed. Yes, it’s a lot of work but we think it’s important to give our guests a little taste of luxury while they’re staying in our home 🥰

Who needs an alarm clock when you wake up to an adrenaline-filled phone call at 6:30 am from one of your guests? Let me tell you what unfolded this morning..

At around 6.15am, Mother Nature decided to flex her powers, and an incredibly strong gust of wind blew out one of the glass panes in our French doors 😳 It’s 6 degrees in Taupō right now with bitterly strong winds so we had to fix this fast! A quick visit to Bunnings & we had supplies for a temporary fix until we can get a glazier out to replace the glass next week. Half an hour later it was all sorted👌

Shoutout to our wonderful guests for being so understanding 🫶

The moral of the story is no matter how prepared you are, you can’t prepare for every eventuality 😉
