A delegation of government undersecretaries and senior officials made a fact-finding visit to the headquarters of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The eminent group included representatives from all ministries and was led by His Excellency Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas. A senior PDO management team, headed by Managing Director Raoul Restucci, gave an overview of the Company’s performance on a range of matters including health, safety and the
environment, production, cost control and the creation of job and training opportunities for Omanis through its pioneering In-Country Value (ICV) programme.

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) recently celebrated the PDO Day, an event marking the second anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s visit to the company’s headquarters in Muscat. Some of the leading figures from Oman’s political, economic and social world attended the coveted event. The dignitaries, all former PDO employees, feature in a new alumni book which was launched at the event titled ‘The Excellence Academy’ and charts their individual career success stories.

gets a contract from Refinery. Galfar Engineering and Contracting has been awarded the tender for site preparation work for the upcoming refinery of Duqm refinery at the Special Economic Zone in Duqm. Site preparation work is expected to start in the second quarter of 2015 and complete during the second quarter of 2016. The site preparation work comprises the excavation and compaction of more than 12 million cu m of soil, and will lay the groundwork to commence refinery construction in 2016. Once the refinery is completed, it will have the capacity to process around 230,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

HE Salim Al Aufi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Oil & Gas, Oman accompanied by HH Sayyid Tarik bin Shabib bin Taimur Al Said, inaugurated the Pilot Solar Project at the Renaissance Permanent Accommodation for Contractors (PAC) in Fahud. The innovative project consists of 4,000 polycrystalline solar panels designed as 10,000 sq.m of shaded car parking. The novel concept saves additional design and structural costs, while generating up to 2.2 million kWh of renewable energy annually, meeting almost all of the facility’s daytime electricity needs.
