Abigail Talitha Kaupa braves the rugged terrains of Chimbu Province to carry out her work as an environmental conservationist at Digasuna Nature Park.

She could be one of the few who rides her favorite bike to engage in tough manly jobs dominated previously by men.

Ms Kaupa (pictured) sacrifices the comforts of urban centres to serve in the rural area.

Even during the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19, Port Moresby Nature Park is committed to caring for over 550 unique native animals, as well as continuing wildlife rescue and rehabilitation services and delivering meaningful conservation and research projects to save PNG species in the wild. However, they now need your support to ensure they can continue to deliver their services into the future.

As a registered charity, the Nature Park derives almost 70% of its income through visitation and business support. With ongoing declines in visitation due to COVID-19 and uncertainty ahead, the South Pacific Island's only internationally accredited wildlife park and PNG's highest visited attraction loved by many, faces an uncertain future.

It costs Port Moresby Nature Park K110,000 per month to deliver their wildlife care and conservation programs: from the purchasing of food; to paying wildlife officer wages; to electricity powering pumps and heating and cooling life-support systems; to water for exhibit cleaning, filling ponds and animal drinking stations; and to security measures to keep our animals safe.

Mt Bosavi, Southern Highlands Province 🌋🗻🇵🇬

Papua New Guinean and Australian archaeologists are investigating whether a remote and rugged part of PNG was an important transit point in the migration of people from South-East Asia to Australia tens of thousands of years ago.

To do that they've been digging in Walufeni Cave at Mt Bosavi on the Great Papuan Plateau.

Frog species of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea 🐸🇵🇬

Did this case study last year 2019 as my final year research project in Milne Bay Province. I did not only intended to do it just for the sack of passing the course but was determined to contribute to science in PNG. Frog's Knowledge in PNG has a huge gap and there is a proper need for documentation especially the relationship between the frogs and its ecosystem. And dealing with frog is very interesting as they one the natural environment indicators of changes in the environment.

At last all species ID been done and proceeding for final draft.👉💙💚👈🙏🙏

Niugini Singing Dogs or the Highlands Wild Dogs are considered to be extinct and one of the second rarest dog species in the world. Only to be discovered near the mountains of Mt Giluwe in New Guinea and Punja Aiyak in Papua ! 🐺🌁

New Guinea Highland Wild Dogs are said to be the ‘rarest, most ancient canid’ in the world today, and researchers have now documented the presence of at least 15 individuals.

World War II wrecks in the Niugini Islands of Papua New Guinea ✈🌊🌏

What a beautiful country and amazing part of the world. Still dreaming of this place a couple of weeks after leaving.

There is more ANZAC/Japanese WWII history in PNG than anywhere else in the world. Particularly in the New Ireland/Rabaul/Kaveing area of PNG.

This wreck of a Japanese WWII "Kate Bomber" is located in about 10m of deep crystal blue water in a lagoon on the Island of Anelaua just of the east coast of New Hanover. Amazing part of pacific ocean to explore.

I have just received some amazing news. My image “Papuan Sunset” has won the DeepExtreme ID Indonesia 2019 over-under category and overall Best of Show with another one of my pictures “New life” given an honourable mention in the same category. Then to make my day even better, my other image “Into the Light” was awarded a 2nd place in the divers category. To say I’m happy is an understatement, I'm incredibly honoured and grateful to have my images recognized at such an amazing event!
