Limgas na Pangasinan Creative Costume

Representing the Only Island Municipality of Pangasinan, Shalana Kristi Caasi Casiquin is embodying the modern Urduja from the Island of Anda. This Creative Cultural Costume depicts the rich Heritage and Culture of Anda since the beginning of time up to the age of modernized landscape. BINONGEY, the food we associate with festivities and celebrations, is the main highlight of this costume. Sticky rice, cooked in bamboo, slowly roasted in mild flame, we want to give you a glimpse of how we cook Binongey in our island. The hip piece symbolizes our humble Island that is continuously progressing. The sword is an icon of our cause to fight for gender equality and womenβs empowerment. This is directly inspired by Princess Urduja: a paragon of courage and bravery. And the Elephant, fossil evidence that is currently placed in the National Museum of Natural Science proves that during the time of Princess Urduja, elephants wander across the island of Anda.
This costume is a reflection of the artistry and ingenuity of Andanians. This is a reminder that Princess Urduja lives in us and it is through our actions, words, and thoughts on how we can follow the footsteps of Princess Urduja.
