The "Miracle of the Bomb" or "The Unexploded Bomb" of the Basilica-Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza. During the Spanish Civil War, specifically on August 3, 1936, a bomb hit the chapel of the Virgin of the Pillar inside the cathedral but did not explode.
The Miracle of the Pillar, as the apparition is known, is a central element of Zaragoza's cultural and religious identity. According to tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to James, holding a pillar (or column) and instructing him to build a church on the site. The pillar is believed to be the same one venerated in the cathedral today.
