NPA Squad Leader Surrendered to Dav Sur R-PSB!
On September 18, 2020 at about 6:15 PM, joint elements of Tourist Police of Digos City Police Station, personnel from Revitalized-Pulis Sa Barangay team Kapatagan together with the personnel of 1104th RMFB and personnel from 39th IB PA arrived at Digos City Police Station and indorsed a certain alias “Junjun”, 20 years old who claimed to be the squad leader of GF 51 and a resident of Poblacion Loreto, Agusan del Sur who voluntarily surrendered to the above government forces.
Prior to the event, alias “jun-jun” expressed his intention to peacefully surrender to the Government by presenting himself to the deployed personnel of Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) at brgy Kapatagan this city. According to him, the September 13 encounter at brgy Sibulan that left at least 2 dead from the NPA side have demoralized most of them that made them scattered in different directions leaving behind him and few of his comrades at a certain area of Kapatagan which was supposedly set for a command meeting. Upon expressing his unwillingness to fight further, he then revealed that he is a member of the New people’s Army for about four years actually serving as the medic of his team under Guerilla Front 51.
Alias “junjun” approached the government forces empty handed; however, he pointed out the exact location where he left his medical equipment, fi****ms and other belongings which was later that day, were recovered by the combined personnel of the abovementioned unit at the grassy portion of Crossing Sabwag, Paradise, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City. Recovered items are; One (1) unit Tongram Sub-machine Gun of Cal 9MM with magazine; Eleven (11) rounds of live ammunition cal 9mm;Forty (40) rounds of live ammunition of caliber 5.56; Assorted medical equipment’s and medicines;One (1) back pack ;CTG Banner; and Other subversive Documents.
Aside from being the squad leader, junjun also served as the medic and during the interview, he shared his learned knowledge about medicines and on treating wounded fighters during actual combat operations. The recovered items are now in the custody of Digos CPS for proper disposition while alias junjun is being facilitated by Davao Sur police Provincial Office headed by the Provincial Director Alberto P Lupaz to avail the benefits of Enhance Community Local Integration Program (ECLIP).
The Provincial Director congratulates Junjun for his wise and timely decision. “For those remaining distressed fighters who wants to lay down their arms, I hope you’ll do it sooner para hindi masayang ang buhay nyo. Sa pagbabalik loob ninyo, sigurado akong may kinabukasan at kabuhayan kayo.” Alyas junjun is the 3rd NPA member who surrendered following the encounter that transpired on September 13, 2020 at Brgy Sibulan, Digos City this province.
Furthermore, PBGEN FILMORE B ESCOBAL, RD, PRO 11 congratulates the R-PSB Kapatagan as well as the men and women of Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office for the successful facilitation of the peaceful surrender of Alias JUNJUN in support to the active participation of this PRO in the current administrations program tagged as End the Local Communist Armed Conflict.
