Good news for Travelers!✈️
: Governor Roel Degamo said Tuesday that the provincial government may require travelers to undergo an RT-PCR test upon arrival in Negros Oriental.
He said that while he acknowledges the new relaxed travel protocols outlined by the national IATF, there is still a need to control the spread of the coronavirus in the province.
"Atong i-swab test [ang mga mobiyahe] pag-abot. I-swab test nato, dayon if positive, atong i-isolate. Pero ma-negative, atong buhian, atong papaulion," Degamo said.
If necessary, he added, the local government may also shoulder the expenses of the swab tests.
"Kana maoy atong ipaabot ngadto sa mga kalungsuran ug kasiyudaran. But if wala gyuy ikabayad unya pwede pud natong malibre sa probinsya, librehon ra gyud nato." he said.
Degamo is expected to release an executive order this week in connection with the uniform IATF travel protocols.
Under the new guidelines earlier approved by the national IATF, travelers are no longer required to undergo a mandatory quarantine upon arrival unless they show COVID-19 symptoms.
They are also not required to secure travel permits and health certificates beforehand, as confirmed by the DILG.
