‘SITTI IN THE CITY OF LOVE’ 💗

LOOK: Bossa Nova singer Sitti Navarro took to Facebook on Wednesday to share a photo of herself and her experience in Iloilo City.

In her Facebook post she said:

“2014 was when I was last in Iloilo for a show, and even then I wasn’t able to see the city much. But now, year 2022, I see how lovely, clean, spacious, and orderly the city is, how they were able to maintain most of their old structures, giving the city so much depth and history. Parang napakasarap mag-aral dito. Their river is clean, their esplanades beautiful, relaxing and safe spaces for people from all walks of life to stroll about or practice dances for their Tiktok accounts.

"How lovely it must be to live here! Iloilo, as it appears to me, is how a city looks like when the government works for its people. You can clearly see the progress. You can feel the locals’ love and pride for their home, see how they partake of the shared responsibility to further advance their community. And as our Kuya driver confidently shared in the very malambing Ilonggo inflection, their leaders are not corrupt, and again one could clearly see that. “Ah, this is a city where all the money for government projects REALLY go to the government projects.” Again, what a model for good and honest governance Iloilo City is.

"I can only hope and pray the day will come when I could say the same of all the places in the Philippines I would be fortunate to visit. 🙏🏼

"Of course, I am looking through a tourist’s lens. I do not know many things, but from what I saw of the city, I was given hope and I feel joy for all the Ilonggos who live here. ♥️”

She is also here for a show at Casino Filipino Iloilo in Amigo Terrace Mall last Wednesday night.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: 𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗬 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗟𝗢𝗜𝗟𝗢

▪️Commissioned by the former Mayor of Iloilo City, Jed Patrick Mabilog, in 2011.
▪️"Ang Lin-ay Sang Iloilo" (The Lady of Iloilo) is an 18-foot bronze statue installed at the Dome of the New Iloilo City Hall.
▪️Sculpted by Ilonggo artist, Ed Defensor, the statue stands as a symbol of the prosperity, the rich cultural heritage, and the pride of the City and Province of Iloilo in Central Philippines.
▪️The figure shows a native Ilonggo lady attired in the native costume of Iloilo holding a scythe in her left hand and stalks of harvested rice in her right arm.
▪️She stands on a pedestal whose four sides are curved respectively with relief sculptures showing the four major assets of the City and Province of Iloilo--rice farming, sugar cane farming, fishing, and education.
▪️The whole sculpture weighs approximately 1.7 tons. The sculpture was installed in August of 2011.
