Sa kabisera ng Palawan, tampok ang Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park - isa sa pinakakahanga-hangang sistemang kuweba na matatagpuan sa buong mundo. Taglay nito ang kaakit-akit na mga batong apog at malagong sibol ng yamang-gubat na siya ring tahanan ng iba’t ibang uri ng buhay-ilang. Ang paligid rin nito ay itinuturing na tinubuang lupa ng ilan sa ating mga katutubo. Katuwang ang iba't ibang sektor ng kanilang kumunidad, kanilang inaalagaan at pinakikinabangan ang mga yamang dulot ng “bundok-hanggang-sa-dagat” na ekosistema. Dumadaloy ang ibayong bahagi nitong parke tungo sa karagatan kung kaya’t nakasalalay rin ang agos ng ilog sa laki ng daluyong. Dahil dito, itinuturing itong isa sa pinaka-iniingatang tirahan ng sari-buhay sa buong mundo.

Nestled at the heart of Palawan’s capital city, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park features one of the world’s most impressive cave systems with spectacular limestone karst beauty, intact old-growth forests and distinctive wildlife. The site is also home to indigenous groups and cultural communities in the country. Along with other stakeholders, they safeguard and benefit from this full “mountain-to-sea” ecosystem. The direct link of the lower portion of the park to the sea makes the river flow subject to tidal influences. The area also represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation.
