The City Tourism Office of Baguio notified the public on Tuesday, August 4, that it eyes to gradually reopen for tourists by September this year, with strictly-controlled entry and monitored movement.
The local government of Baguio laid out requirements for tourists, hotels, and city tourism managers of the “Summer Capital of the Philippines” for its reopening.
For tourists, here are the requirements that should be complied with if you’re planning to visit next month:
• Pre-register through the Baguio VIS.I.T.A. (online registration system)
• Pre-book accommodation preferably through accredited tour operators, and declare itinerary
• Tourists have to undergo mandatory triage and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to be paid by them upon entry
• Tourists have to stay in the hotel until their test results come out (at most nine hours), and before going around the city
• Tourists' movement shall be closely monitored by their tour operator and/or hotel management
For tour operators (TOs) and hotels:
• Only those with DOT-issued Certificate of Authority to Operate (CAO) can accommodate guests
• TOs and hotels must require guests to register prior to travel through Baguio VIS.I.T.A.
• Hotels must ensure observance of health and safety protocols, lest CAO will be revoked
City tourism managers are expected to strictly monitor the tourists’ whereabouts and compliance with the regulations, to ensure the security of the tourists’ personal data, and to disseminate necessary information to locals and tourists.
