When we talk about unspoilt paradises in the Philippines, it’s almost impossible not to mention Calaguas, a sanctuary in the north best known for its pristine waters and powdery white sands.
Calaguas sits quietly in the province of Camarines Norte, encompassing the major islands of Guintinua and Tinaga and Maculabo among other minor islands.
It has recently gained the attention of tourists and vacationers who long to unplug from the world—literally, as there is neither signal nor electricity in the area—and experience nature in its full, unadulterated glory: sharp green-to-blue gradient of the sea, cerulean skies, favorable weather, and white sand so fine it’s polvoron-esque.
Among the few yet remarkable main attractions you can explore in Calaguas is Tinaga’s long beach called Mahabang Buhangin. This is the main setting of Mikoy Martinez’ video, where he encapsulated the adventures one can partake in once in the island: swimming, island hopping, snorkeling, and even partying—fire dancers included!
