The seven days winter sports feast 2023 begins at Attaabad Lake in Hunza from today.

In the feast, local sports competition including ice hockey and ice skating will be held besides a grand culture show.

Risme shop, Risme Tao,Mayfung and other local traditions will be specially presented to attract national and international tourists to the area and help preserve to the local culture.

Tourism department , winter sports association and administration have completed all arrangements.

We’re proud to award the first prize to Taseer Baig of and the second prize to Tsering Dharkey Gurung of .

Taseer’s winning story, “Living in the mountainous regions of Pakistan,” paints a powerful and poignant portrait of the impact of on a small community, while Tsering’s “Fight for survival” shows us how climate change is disrupting the traditional way of life for a group of herders.

Thank you to all of the talented writers who participated in the competition. Their stories provide a powerful reminder of the urgent need to address climate change, and we hope they will inspire others to take action to protect our planet!

The Hunza region lifted the Gold Cup, securing ten gold medals, at the Josh Games 2022 after a nail-biting competition. With the Central region winning second position with six gold medals, the southern region stood third with five gold medals.

Athletes from all regions performed their best, while a large number of Jamati members showed up to support their favourite teams. On this occasion, Hafiz Sherali, President, Ismaili Council for Pakistan, Aziz Boolani, Chairman, Aga Khan Rural Support Programme, Iqbal Walji, Chairman, Aga Khan Foundation, Nadir Anjum, President, Ismaili Council for Central Region and other dignitaries attended the closing ceremony where they distributed medals amongst the winners, runners-up and high achievers of the competition.

Shandur, the world’s highest Polo ground is located between the border of the Chitral and Ghizer districts of Gilgit Baltistan Northern Pakistan at an altitude of 3700 meters above sea level.

Shandur Top, situated in Gilgit, and called “Roof of the world” is at an elevation of 12,200ft. The version of polo game played here is considered to be the purist of all, called free style polo.

Since 1936, traditional polo festival is being held here and people from all around the world come to watch the matches.

Two successful trophy hunts were carried out in the Gojal region of District Hunza today.

Parsuns Bruce Allen, who is a USA national, has successfully hunted down an ibex with a horn size of 42 inches in the Khunjerab Villagers Organization (KVO) area today at 11:00 AM. Another trophy hunter by the name of Randal Scott Harden, who is also a USA national, has hunted an ibex having a horn size of 39 inches in the Passu area of Gojal, Hunza.
