RIEP!

Deepest condolences to the family of Ghulam Mohammed and the whole community of Passu / Shimshal. I will never forget his kindness to me and my friends and my groups. He introduced me to Shambi Khan in 1987 and thus started a major chapter in my life. RIP.

I knew he was ill, as I was in Hunza in August and was told then that he was in Karachi suffering with Alzheimers. I visited Passu. The Passu Inn was shut and becoming overgrown, but I climbed over the g*te and sat awhile in his garden. This place has so many intense, special memories for me. His flowers. His many species of apple trees, some brought from all over the world by his many friends. I remember his wry sense of humour, his modesty, his hospitality and his chana dhal and rotis.
