The brown bear Expedition
At Deosai National park

The Himalayan Brown Bear ( Family Portrait )
Location : Wolf Mountain, Upper Reaches of Deosai Plains. ( Skardu, Baltistan ) / 11th July '23
Really had to Trek & Hike Long before getting anywhere close to this absolutely shy and wildly innocent family of mom & two cubs languishing in the shadows of a slope on Wolf Mountain.
Dear Brother & Friend Abul Khan Abul Khan Spotted them, disappearing off a ridge around 3km + away and was sharp enough to take a record photograph of the family. It immediately ensued in a crisp short discussion entailing " the decision to go for them " as there were two critical factors to take into account... Time Left before sunset & distance to cover.. and how to approach them as the bears have an extremely sharp keen sense of smell and if they get the smell of us approaching, they will simply flee at an amazing speed and vanish into the vastness of the valleys & plains.
Lo behold, we started off at an acclimatised fast pace, as I had already been there in the area for now more than 2 days. It took us more than an hour & a half before we reached the Ridge, crossing many " Maasheez " and traversing through ravines, crevices on the way..
To our dismay and shock, we did not catch a glimpse of them as we cautiously peered over the ridge..Taking out an old fashioned Bino, the Wildlife department guard Mukhtar Strained it to his wary eyes and started panning across the receding shadows of the Wolf Mountain Slope, while Abul Khan & myself were using our long prime tele's ( as Binoculars ) and doing the same..
Suddenly, Mukhtar in a composed whisper asked me to take a photograph from my camera of a ( thin brownish line ).. On Zooming in, it was concluded that the mom bear was sleeping with one visible furry ball cub straddled on her.
Now was the critical time, light had faded down considerably, the distance was around 300 meters + and we had to approach them to get a clear shot before they took notice of us and scamper off.
Knowing the direction of the wind, we decided to go down the slope on which we were on, and approach them from the Maashee, so if they even wake up, we may get a good shot of them, and thats exactly how it happened. Mother Nature's infinite blessings continued and I was able to get them to notice us with this absolutely amazing " Family Portrait Pose " before they felt, us to be " Absolute Aliens " and Gallop off on the Slope.
An Experience Unforgettable. Words Fail Me to express my utmost gratitude to the Deosai National Park's Management, The Wildlife Department of Baltistan and their Range Staffs Monumental Effort in bringing back the Decreasing population of Bears to a healthy thriving census of 76.. Gentlemen who need absolute Applause for this monumental achievement are Mahmood Ghaznavi saheb,
Haider Amdouk, Syed Abbas, Mehdi Photos.
Accompanying me on this unforgettable expedition were My Better half, Leghari and Javed Khan Javed Khan.. God Bless them all..

Summit Update: 8091m

CONGRATULATIONS to Sajid Ali Sadpara for successfully reaching the summit of Annapurna 8091m.

Sajid Ali Sadpara, a Pakistani mountaineer, is renowned for his feats in high altitude mountaineering. He is the son of the late Ali Sadpara, who was also a renowned mountaineer with several successful ascents of peaks above 8,000 meters. Annapurna, the tenth highest peak in the world, is known for its technical difficulties and high fatality rate, making it a challenging climb even for experienced mountaineers.

Currently, the climbing members and Sherpas of SST are at C3 and will attempt the summit shortly.

Note:- Mr Sadpara has already summited K2 (8,611m), Gasherbrum-I (8,080m) and Gasherbrum-II (8,035m), in Pakistan and Manaslu (8,163m) in Nepal without supplemental oxygen.
Mr Sadpara, son of famed mountaineer Ali Sadpara, aims to climb all of the world’s 14 eight-thousanders without supplemental oxygen.
He has made a name for himself in the Alpine community with his summits of the most daunting peaks at a young age. He climbed K2 — the world’s second-highest mountain — twice, one time without supplemental oxygen. In 2022, he summited the Manaslu peak without supplemental oxygen, becoming the first Pakistani to achieve the feat.

Earlier, he also set records by when he summited both Gasherbrum-I and Gasherbrum-II peaks in three days and 18 hours without supplementary oxygen.
