Our history
This main building was built in the nineteenth century as a residence for a family from São Miguel. On the next decades, the progressive economic growth across the island gave it several purposes, being the last and the most important one, a role as a kindergarten school.
Over the last five decades this school was a well-known reference overl all São Miguel. Generations of children still look at the building and remember their childhood. Many of them are adults by now, and from time to time they knock on the main door and ask if they can enter to revive their old classroom or just to check the backyard.
Casa do Contador is currently a short-term accommodation project started by a couple of young entrepreneurs who have tried to preserve all these divisions and memories in order to return this heritage to the city.
