Old Bucharest flavors!
Near Cișmigiu Park, at 10 Puțul cu Plopi street, autumn leaves, but especially desolation and oblivion took over the house where the famous actor Constantin Tănase lived in Bucharest. Other such architectural jewels are deteriorating day by day in the area, crying for the past. A beautiful past, but which tends to bury so many stories between the walls of houses that are about to fall.
I discover, with every walk I take through Bucharest, places full of history, the aromas of the past, which make me smile and sigh at the same time. This time, my steps took me to the area bordered by Popa Tatu, Transilvaniei, Theodor Aman, Spiru Haret and Știrbei Vodă streets. A relatively quiet area, where cafes, terraces and restaurants remind you of the Little Paris. I took every little street here and got lost in my thoughts, I savored every little corner that reminded me of the atmosphere and architecture of the interwar period. Superb houses, in which Byzantine and peasant ethnographic elements, Ottoman or even Italian art models are combined for the delight of the eyes and the soul. I admired the arches, balconies, columns and decorative elements, I liked the massive and strong look of the buildings. Some rehabilitated, others in a deep state of disrepair, with broken windows, falling plaster or, worse, walls about to collapse.
Somewhere, on Luigi Cazzavillan Street, I noticed a white plaque on the facade of a building that reads: "Here lived and created, between the years 1947-1970, the playwright Tudor Muşatescu, 1903-1970". A little further, not even five minutes' walk, at 10 Puțul cu Plopi street, a marble plaque reminds the passerby that the actor Constantin Tănase lived here, in the period 1922-1945, one of the most valuable and talented artists of Romania. Famous coupletist and founder of the "Constantin Tănase" Magazine Theater from the Capital. Although it is a historical monument, the house seems abandoned, time leaving its mark on it. All around, the contrasts are linked. Renovated villas, of a beauty that delights your heart, houses, less well-maintained or even abandoned buildings.
