The Singapore Society of Extracorporeal Technology (SSECT) is pleased to organise this conference to bring together perfusionists from across Asia and further afield, to discuss the latest developments in the field of extracorporeal circulation. Though the “art” of perfusion is practiced the world over, it is no longer performed in iso
lation. The key objective of this meeting, as encapsulated in the theme, “New Frontiers In Cardiovascular Perfusion” is to update Perfusionists with recent developments in our field and promote research and good practices to bring about optimal outcomes for our patients. The meeting also contributes to the continual education of Perfusionists and the advancement the specialty, enabling us to remain current and relevant in the area of heart surgery. This will be a wonderful opportunity for all perfusionists and clinicians interested in the field of perfusion to gather and attune ourselves to new processes, clinical applications and issues associated with extracorporeal circulation. We will endeavour to assemble a range of contemporary and interesting topics. Here, we would venture to bring the region’s perfusion community closer together on many levels. The content, with presentations from keynote speakers and free papers, would represent current knowledge and innovative practices and strategies applicable to the management of cardiovascular perfusion. Perfusionists and related professionals are encouraged to participate actively in this teaching and sharing experience. We believe this meeting will offer a fruitful environment for perfusionists to gain critical new insights that can be incorporated in our practices, that would translate into benefits for patients under our care.
