The MEP provides students with an opportunity to try out what it is like to be a Member of the European Parliament and decide on EU matters for two days.

Humenné Local Model European Parliament (HLMEP)

This conference is organised by students of the Secondary Grammar School of Army General Ludvík Svoboda in Humenné. HLMEP will be held on December 1st – 2nd, 2016 at the premises of the school. The event is designed specifically for secondary school students since they are a selective sample of young people to whom the process of fostering the Europ

ean aspect of civil awareness may concern. The MEP simulates sessions held in the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg. Participation in one of these sessions gives you an insight into the work of the European Parliament and other institutions. It also helps bring about a sense of European identity and citizenship. The working language during this two-day long session is English. Over 30 two-men delegations of the European Union member countries and delegations of the Observer countries meet to discuss topical political issues, which they have researched prior to the conference. During the simulation, the participants will have the chance to learn about other countries' positions towards the EU and experience a truly international working environment. The Model European Parliament is much more than just a non-formal learning process focused on the European Union. You will have the possibility to practice and improve your negotiation strategies as well as to upgrade English language skills. Moreover, you can experience a truly European atmosphere.
