Destination 10: The National Museum
A potential outing so often forgotten, the National Museum can be an educational and fun outing for the kids. Originally established as the Royal Victoria Institute in 1892, the museum has a permanent collection of over 10,000 items. Your visit to the museum can also be accompanied by a visit to the adjoining art gallery.

Destination 9: Argyle Falls
Located on the Argyle river some 25 km from Scarborough, Argyle Falls is a scenic beauty. There is a short forest hike to the falls. Along the trail there is diverse vegetation such as poui, mango, cocoa, wild pines, bois cano, silk cotton, cedar and pawpaw, orchids, mimosa, heliconia. At the top, there are three pools. You are advised to visit the falls with an official guide who can be found at the entrance.

Destination 8: Wild Fowl Trust
Currently in its 50th year, the Wild Fowl Trust occupies 30 hectares of land within PETROTRIN’s oil refinery. One of the main objectives of the Trust is to breed and re-introduction locally endangered, wetland birds into their natural environment.

Destination 7: Maracas Beach
Maracas never gets old. The North Coast’s most popular beach, it is known for its waves and breathtaking mountainous views. An opportunity to have another bake and shark is one additional reason to visit the area.

Destination 6: Asa Wright Nature Centre
The reserve spans 1500 acres in the Arima and Aripo Valleys of the Northern Range. There are 166 species of birds. Guided tours of the rainforest can also be arranged.

Throughout the weekend, we'll be hosting a flea market right on the Boardwalk and entertained by the great DJs from Evolutionofnext.

To cap off the weekend, Fireone Fireworks FX promises to wow everyone with a spectacular fireworks display beginning around 7:30 pm.

Destination 5: Emperor Valley Zoo
To keep the kiddies happy, you cannot go wrong with a visit to the zoo. The Emperor Valley Zoo was opened on the 8th November 1952. Children can see many of the mammals, birds, reptiles and fish indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago and the adjacent South American continent. The zoo has also added a number of exotic species foreign to the region that children will also be happy to see in person.
Opening hours are Mon - Fri 8:00am to 5:30pm, Weekends & Public Holidays - 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Destination 4: Caroni Bird Sanctuary
Take a boat tour through the mangrove and let the children see first hand the mammals and reptiles that inhabit the swamp. The visit culminates with large flocks of scarlet ibis that come home to roast. There are daily tours from 4pm.

Destination 1: Grande Rivière
This is the last weekend to take your kids to turtle watching as official visits close off at the end of August. Grande Riviere is one of the most important turtle nesting sites in the world.
Now an endangered species, the leatherback turtle comes to our shores to nest from March to September.
Make a point of experiencing it this year.
