🇹🇹 Liam, Zuri break CCCAN records as T&T swimmers add to their medal tally! 🏊🏼♂️💨
T&T’s swimmers, Liam Carrington and Zuri Ferguson, smashed two records on their way to their gold medals on ‘Day 2’ of the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Championships in Mexico ⏱️
Carrington entered the pool and splashed to a lightning-quick 25.95 seconds in the Men’s ‘15-17’ 50-metre backstroke event. In the process, he bettered the time of 26.84 seconds Carey Davante of the Bahamas which was set back in 2018 🥇
In the Women’s ‘15-17’ 50-metre backstroke final, Ferguson was in a class of her own, as she touched the wall after 29.20 seconds to eclipse the previous record time of 30.18s set by Citlali Jimenez Torres of Mexico in 2019 🙌🏽
The contingent representing the Twin Island Republic added 11 medals (two gold, five silver, and four bronze) on the night as the squad accumulated 17 medals in two days 🥈🥉
In addition to Ferguson and Carrington, Johann-Matthew Matamoro secured a silver medal for T&T in the Men’s ‘18 & over’ 50-metre backstroke event. He was one of five swimmers to add silver medals to their cabinet on their night 💪🏽
Due to adverse weather conditions forecasted for the host area unfortunately caused the tournament to be delayed over the next two days ⛈️
