Tanzania has lost 60% of its elephants since 2009. Ruaha lost 12,000 last year alone.

Our recent trip to the Simanjiro region with our clients from Australia. The journey started with a long drive deep into Maasai lands with giraffes and zebra along the roadside. The next day we went deeper into the landscape and had a very special day in a Maasai boma, where we walked, talked, watched dancing, learnt about the houses and herbal medicine before saying farewell. A great trip - thank you to Margie, Ian and Leeanne!

Savannah Discovery supports community development. We have officially started our community projects in Simanjiro - great news for us, our clients and the people we work with. To assist women's business, we purchased and transported beads and other equipment for women to make bead jewellery to sell. Our major project is to build a nursery school in a rural village where children up to the ages of 11 do not attend school as the nearest is too far to walk. So far we have held community meetings to organise two teachers who have started already teaching 35 young children. Savannah Discovery sent basic supplies - books, pens, chalk and a board so they could start. They are now teaching under a tree - later we plan to build a simple school with two classrooms. Thank you for booking with Savannah Discovery and enabling us to make a difference. :)
