The unspoilt wilderness rich in flora and fauna, and contains a wide variety of animals including the rarely Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelopes, hard to see in most other game parks especially in Northern Tanzania. Ruaha National Park is famous for its herds of elephants and buffaloes. The Ruaha River, which plays an important role in the ecosystem of the park, provides sanctuary to a large number of hippos and crocodiles. During the dry season the river attracts great quantities of game including lions, leopard, hunting or wild dog, impala, waterbuck, warthog, giraffe, and elands. In the plains ostriches, cheetahs and Grants Gazelles can be seen. The park is rich in bird life throughout the year, with over 450 bird species recorded. The best time for game viewing is during the dry season, from May to December. During the wet months from January to April some tracks become impassable.

Great Migration is the ever moving circular migration of over a million animals across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The constant movement of columns of wildebeest, joined by a host of companions, follow an age-old route in search of grazing and water. After calving in the southern part of Tanzania's Serengeti near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the animals journey through the Serengeti up and around in a clockwise direction towards the Masai Mara in Kenya, before returning once again near the end of the year. Along the way, high drama is always present, as thousands of animals are taken by predators and thousands more are born, replenishing the numbers and sustaining the circle of life.

The great Serengeti wildebeest migration is the movement of vast numbers of the Serengeti's wildebeest, accompanied by large numbers of zebra, and smaller numbers of Grant's gazelle, Thomson's gazelle, eland and impala. These move in an annual pattern which is fairly predictable. Caracals are the wild cat native to a wide range of habitats in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.and favour rocky mountainous terrain. These ferocious cats can fight well above their weight, killing prey much larger than themselves. Prey species can include anything from an Impala ram to a mouse, Caracals are adapted to catch birds in flight and capable of leaping up to 3 m high.
