☢️ 26th April 1986 and 26th April 2022.

36 years now…

We were never that close again to an ecological catastrophe than this year.
For the first time, during the Chernobyl accident of 86th year. And for the second time - very recently, when Chernobyl NPP was occupied by russian troops.
But this time it would be much worse, because it is not only dangerous reactor no. 4 here but other contaminated objects and facilities.

The day of Chernobyl disaster was the day that changed forever lives of thousands people. Sleeping peacefully at night, people couldn’t imagine the following disaster right next to them, in 3 km from Pripyat.
So familiar for Ukrainians right now…

We will never forget the heroes of that time as mich as we won’t forget our nowadays heroes.
History repeats itself 💔 not really the same historical events but I hope you see the point…

Even if I am not in Chernobyl, I have always a small but so valuable reminder of it - my tattoo 🙏☢️

🇺🇦☢️ It is painful to realize, that I am a Chernobyl tour-guide who used to tell people all the horror of 1986.
How people were supposed to be evacuated from their homes because of an invisible enemy as radiation.

Now Ukraine has visible enemy, and many people have to run to save themselves…

☢️ VISITING CHERNOBYL: PICTURES YES OR NO?

This is a very specific topic that triggers many people. Let me share with you my opinion.

As a tour-guide, I work with many people and I met very different characters. Some people go to Chernobyl just for shock content, some people visit for the general education and take standard pictures for memories, some people quietly walk around without no pictures at all just absorbing the experience.

There is nothing bad about taking pictures during your trip. Many people consider this trip as their vacation destination, a place they dreamt of for a long time. We visit Chernobyl Zone officially, due to the rules with all the permissions and officially it is totally allowed to take pictures there. So, why should it be a shame to take the pictures?

I know that it might be different type of pictures, like respectful or not really. So, we kind of need to keep this slight border of appropriate or inappropriate pictures, that’s for sure!

But now Chernobyl Zone is an open-air museum and people are allowed to be there, so, there is nothing bad if you take a picture around sarcophagus or especially inside the power plant during your unique tour.

For someone, this trip might be planned for years, flying from another country, so it is totally understandable that you want to capture all the details of your lifetime experience in the Chernobyl zone!

I don’t like when people intentionally say that it is not correct to take pictures here. We all have different opinions. But this is officially allowed, hundreds of people per day visit Chernobyl and later tones of their pictures appear on internet, so it only keeps this place alive and not forgotten.

Our world has many historically tragic places, but mostly all of them are currently tourist destinations. The most popular example of mine is Auschwitz. Each of these specific places has its own rules and policy of visiting but Chernobyl is not the only place of human horror which we can visit.

Considering the pictures, Auschwitz is a different place. It is not related to my topic of pictures in Chernobyl. But what I am saying is, many people are shocked and surprised even with the fact that it is possible to visit Chernobyl, like such a disaster has happened there, how can we go there. But remember, this is a part of our history that shouldn’t be forgotten and humans should see the consequences of the past. So visiting of such places is important.
