Day 1:

Start the day with a hike to the Sipi Falls, a series of three waterfalls in the foothills of Mount Elgon.
After visiting the waterfalls, enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
In the afternoon, head to the Sipi River Lodge and try your hand at rock climbing on the nearby cliffs. The lodge provides all the necessary gear and instruction.
End the day with a relaxing evening at the lodge, enjoying the amenities and the stunning views.
Day 2:

Start the day early and hike to the summit of Mount Elgon, which is the second-highest mountain in Uganda. The hike takes around 5-6 hours and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on the mountain and then start your descent back to the base camp.
In the afternoon, head to a local coffee farm for a hands-on coffee excursion. You'll learn about the entire coffee-making process, from picking the beans to roasting them to brewing the perfect cup. You'll also have the opportunity to try your hand at each step of the process.
End the day with a traditional Ugandan dinner at the farm or at a nearby restaurant.
Day 3:

Start the day with a visit to the Piswa Trailhead, where you can embark on a guided trek through the forests and valleys of Mount Elgon National Park.
Along the way, you'll have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including baboons, colobus monkeys, and forest elephants.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park and continue the trek, taking in the stunning scenery and learning about the local flora and fauna.
End the day with a visit to the Sipi Widows and Orphans Support Group, a community organization that works to improve the lives of vulnerable people in the area. You'll have the opportunity to meet the members and learn about their work.
Overall, this itinerary combines outdoor activities with cultural experiences and a hands-on coffee excursion, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty and richness of Sipi Falls and Mount Elgon.

“I might be crazy but I can’t find anything more seductive than these places with their integrity. It is the heart of history that you feel coming out from these landscapes”
*Daniel Kihlgren - Founder Sextantio*
The official ceremonial welcome for the opening of Sextantio Rwanda Camp January 2023. An assemblage of long-established huts on an island, custom built on lake Kivu one of Africa's largest lakes.
Daniele Kihlgren is the rebellious third child of a wealthy family of cement industry magnates.
He was included in the list of the 25 most influential personalities who have changed the way of traveling by Condé Nast Traveler.
He landed his Rwanda Projetto Capanne (small hut project) that keeps the local tradition alive. A nonprofit distributing directly to the natives boosting the community in the hopes that the locals will not have to beg also offers insurance to the neediest.
When you visit Sextantio you will be able to enjoy fishing on this huge Lake. This will give you an opportunity to paddle in a dugout canoe, try the local banana brew and enjoy wildlife.
You will not want to miss Rwanda’s main attraction, the mighty Silverback Gorillas.

Rest in Peace Jesse2!

It’s Devastating to hear the news, that the remaining Sankai/Fig Tree pride male Olbarikoi/Jesse2 was found dead today at his territory around Fig Tree area. Jesse2 won our heart for being a very responsible protector of his pride and a loving father for his kids. He’s been trying so hard to lead his pride avoid all those obstacles after losing his brother Olope to Black Rock boys. Very sad to accept this ending that we eventually lost this great lion. It still needs investigation what caused to his sudden death - only his carcass was found after part of the body has been eaten by hyenas, no immediate proof for territory fight, therefore the controversies. Though it’s suspected the two Black Rockers Olobor and Oloshipa may have arrived once again to do a fatal attack, it’s also well known that Fig Tree Camp area is a hot-spot for human-wildlife conflicts during past years (we lost the core Fig Tree pride as well as 1/4 Sankai subadults at this location exactly). We hope to know the truth, waiting for official investigations, and will get everyone updated.

Rest in Peace Jesse2. You have rejoined your dearest brothers across the rainbow bridge. So far we may have lost all the original 7 Offbeat boys who were sired by Jesse and Frank. It’s sad to observe these males collapsed too early at their prime age.
