Uganda has a total of 1090 bird species in its avifauna.
Sir Frederick Jackson, the then-Governor of Uganda, chose this bird as a symbol for the Union Jack in 1893. It was approved for use on flags flown by Uganda's governor by His Majesty George V of England.

Because of its beauty and humble demeanor, the crested crane remains Uganda's national bird. It appears on all state instruments as well as the national Coat of Arms. As Uganda's national bird, the grey crested crane is revered and legally protected.

📍65km north of Mbale, the Nyero Rock Paintings, the oldest rock art in Uganda, consists of six panels of prehistoric art, including many geometric and abstract patterns. They are the finest of several rock art sites in the region. 3 panels are found within the extensive granite outcrop of Moru Ikara, 10km from Kumi.

The most impressive are the canoes bearing human figures.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄!

A comfortable hopping speed of a kangaroo is around 21-26km per hour, however they can move up to 71km per hour over shorter distances.
That’s faster than a racehorse!

Kangaroos use their large feet and powerful hind legs to jump up to 9 metres long in one single leap!

They have small front legs and a long strong muscular tail, which helps them balance while jumping.

They can swim too😎
