The stunning Grey crowned Crane aka the Crested Crane, a part of the family Gruidae and also Uganda’s national bird 🇺🇬

Usually seen in pairs, they’re rarely on their own and are very loyal to each other. They are an endangered species.

These cranes are omnivores, eating plants, seeds, grain, insects, frogs, worms, snakes, small fish and the eggs of aquatic animals

Colobus comes from the Greek word “mutilated” because colobus monkeys do not have thumbs, unlike other monkeys.

The black-and-white colobus is the most arboreal of all African monkeys, spending most of its time in the canopy and rarely descending to the ground. However, they walk between empty forest patches to hunt and feed.

This primate is probably the most widespread forest monkey in Uganda.

Giraffes are vital to keeping ecosystems in balance. They eat the browse that others cannot reach, which promotes growth of forage and opens up areas for themselves and other smaller browsers to make use of. Importantly this means that by protecting Africa's giraffes, we are protecting other species too.

Zebras in Uganda
