Two gorillas embrace...A rare and spectacular moment with the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

On their recent trek, these intrepid travel advisors spent the morning with the Habinyanja gorilla family of Bwindi. At one point, one of the female gorillas crossed through the brush to hug one of the males. Even the park ranger leading the trek--who has been guiding treks for over a decade—had never seen anything like it before.

It's a moment that makes you realize how truly special it is to see these remarkable animals up close in their natural habitat.

Within two hours of arriving in Queen Elizabeth National Park, this group of advisors spotted four of the famed "Big Five"--lions at hunt, a leopard lounging in a nearby tree, and numerous Cape Buffalo and elephant. This post from shares one of the highlights of the day!

Ugandans say rain at the beginning of a safari is a blessing on the day— good luck.

Our morning game drive already brought the fortune of a leopard in a tree and a very close gigantic tusker elephant (or Ellie as they say). When we happened on a pride of lions stalking a herd of kobs for their breakfast, our crew pushed up the roof of the vehicle despite the rain.

We watched the pride strategize their opportunity by spreading out to cover all angles.

The wind was in their favor and the grazing kobs were completely unaware until one member of the herd perked their ears and popped up their head and ran through the herd spreading the alarm.

The pride continued their hunt, but as their chances of success decreased, so did their interest.

The pride enjoyed some snuggles, some lion lovin, and one cat fight between the older and younger males right in front of our jeep. (If that doesn’t get your heart pumping, you might not be alive…).

Young mountain gorillas are the heart and soul of their families. For the first six months or so of their lives, infants are in almost constant contact with their mothers. As they grow, other members of the family group play an increasingly important role in their upbringing.

These curious juveniles spend their days learning essential life skills, playing, and forming strong bonds with their siblings and elders...and it's truly a privilege to see this process firsthand in the ancient forests of Uganda.

🌍 Start the day with a visit to the Giraffe Centre to meet the endangered Rothschild giraffes, which are responsibly bred at the Centre before being integrated into the wilds of Kenya's national parks as part of their ongoing conservation efforts. You'll even get to hand-feed them, with the chance of a big giraffe kiss in return.
