British colonization of Uganda began around 1860. In 1888 Britain assigned political and economic power over the region to the British East Africa Company by royal charter. The Company's control over the area was consolidated in 1891 when a treaty was signed with the Buganda, then the area's principal kingdom.

Britain left Uganda after 102 years.
Today Uganda celebrates 62 years of Independence from Britain.

Blessed day comrades.

Nalubega Dianah completed her 2 year training at the Tourism Institute of East Africa. One year after her graduation she joined Koferz Limited . A company based in the Netherlands and imports coffee from Uganda. She was made a partner because of her hard work.

She handles all the logistics in Uganda and sends 2 tones of coffee to the Netherlands every 3-5 months.

Mentoring people builds a nation, community and empowers an individual with life skills that will sustain them for life.

I have been at it for decades and I have lots of mentees that have permeated the globe.

Ms. Aisha Mambo - Human Resources Director ( HRD)- Sheraton Kampala Hotel by Marriott. Inspiring some of the students at Tourism Institute of East Africa - Kampala Campus.

Sheraton Kampala Hotel and Tourism Institute of East Africa signed an MoU and have had a cordial working relationship for the last seven years and are still counting. Many of our students have grown from interns to supervisors and heads of departments at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

A visit by Ms. Aisha is one of those things we deliberately do to have industry players interface with students in preparation for what awaits in the work place.

We carry out research to identify gaps in the industry and come up with recommendations and solutions. Our Professional team of lecturers are both academicians and practitioners in the industry. The goodwill and partnership the institute has with other institutions opens doors of employment opportunities for graduates from the institute. The family atmosphere created at the institute and conducive learning environment enables students to desire to learn and participate in the development of good practice in the tourism & hospitality industry. Our training model is NOT theoretical and memorization rather, we train our students to understand concepts and new ideas through critical thinking.

We offer Diploma, Certificate programs and Short Courses. The Diploma programs take two (2) Academic Years. Each Academic Year has two (2) Semesters.
