Uganda Wildlife Authority now manages Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where visitors can be able to walk and see rhinos on foot.

They are secretive and spend much of their time hidden, casual observers may see a few while on a safari but there are some you are not likely to miss like the Nile Crocodile, Nile Monitor Lizard and chameleons.

Antelopes live in a wide range of habitats. The African Savannahs host most of these species and there over 91 species of them all over Africa. 25-40 of these co-occur over much of East Africa.

They make a hearty meal for many predators and they must always be on the lookout for danger depending on the species and location. Uganda has about 29 antelope species in each of the different parks. In the pictures below we the Bushbuck, Uganda Kobs, Impala and Oribi

The Zebra 🦓 is a quintessential African animal: the horse in stripy pyjamas and at the end of every kindergarten kid’s Alphabet Chat.

In Uganda only 2 National parks (Kidepo Valley and Lake Mburo) host these black and white animals but the Burchell’s species. They are social animals and not picky eaters like most ungulates in Africa, they dont require just short grass.

The noisy territorial calls of the hippopotamus create a signature soundtrack to Africa’s wild rivers and wetlands. Despite the endearing smile, however, this heavyweight aquatic herbivore has a notoriously aggressive disposition.
They lead a double life where by day they spend their time in the waters and by night, hippos leave the water and disperse to feed, wandering far in search of grazing. On land, they are solitary, the calves staying with their mothers.
