We recently stayed at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge for 4 nights and it was so magical. The cottages are all decorated nicely and it was so nice to have the fireplace at night, along with the hot water bottle in bed. The staff took amazing care of us, especially Edward, Rosemerry and Isabell. The food was all beautifully prepared, often with fresh ingredients from the on-site garden and I liked that there was often a Ugandan dish available since I like to try the local food (I highly recommend the rolex for breakfast)! The lodge was gorgeous and the views unsurpassed - from our balcony we could see the entire Virunga volcanic range. I also loved watching all of the birds, especially the pied crows on the property. From the lodge they can also help you arrange local tours, such as Suma Falls, which was a 12k roundtrip walk, and you can organise massages, which was much needed after the gorilla trek. This lodge was amazing and I hope to return someday.

I recommend bringing more than you think you might need to tip because the staff are exceptional and they deserve it!!

Did you know that ostriches are the biggest and tallest birds in the world weighing upto 346 Pounds and can grow up to 9 feet as if its not enough , these giant birds can also run up to 43 miles per hour making them the fastest birds on land..........Crazy isnt it ?
In Uganda, Matheniko Wildlife Reserve in North Eastern Uganda is one of the homes to the incredible giants of the avian world !
