Mount Muhabura also known as Mount Muhavura is an inactive volcano in the Virunga mountains on the boarder between Uganda and Rwanda.
Muhabura means "the guide" in the local language. This name was coined probably because it was used as a guide by distant travellers.
Muhabura is the third among the virunga mountain ranges which is also part of the Albertine rift, the western branch of the East African rift.
Challenge yourself with a vertical kilometer of hiking in these mountain ranges. Activities to enjoy include; hiking, spectacular view of the Virunga mountains, crater lake view at the top, cool breeze, view of beautiful flora and fauna.

The Sempaya Female Hotsprings.

The springs got the name sempaya from a swahili word "sehemu mbaya"translating to the difficult side as a result of finding it challenging to pe*****te the existing rocks during the construction of the Fort Portal, Bundibugyo road along the ridges of the Rwenzori mountains.

Here is the indigenous story that surrounds the hotsprings. The indigenous Bamaga clan, the neigh ours to these awesome hotsprings & their own story from the folklore. According to a one Mzee Adonia Balinsanga, the leader of the Bamaga clan, it is said that the Bamaga women once went to the forest to get themselves firewood & then saw a hairy man dressed in bark cloth welding a spear in company of his dog. The women ran back to their homes & narrated everything to their husbands who decided to pick and take him to their homes & later on got him a wife from the same village. The said man was later on known as Biteete who went on with his hunting activities, but one time never returned home. After 3 days, the men that had brought him went out to look for him & couldn't find him nor his dog only to spot his spear at some one point the present day the Male hotspring. It was assumed that he had disappeared from the same. The men went back to tell the wife (Nyansimbi) who also ran to the forest never to return. Later on after a continued search for the woman, they only found her clothes at some one point present day the female hotsprings. All in all, that's how the hotsprings came to be known as the male & female hotsprings & to date, the Bamaga believe that their male ancestors lived beneath the male hotsprings while their female ancestors lived at the female hotsprings.

A 30 minutes walk via the palm forest from the main road leads you to the inner sempaya female hotspring. It's characterised by the boiling spring.

Here, eggs & bananas can be cooked instantly for consumption by hungry hikers in the blistering waters. These amazing springs can boil at very high temperatures of up to 100 degrees celcius and have a spurt shelling up 2 meters from a wide hole of about 8 meters.

The sempaya female hotspring is such a magical wonder that will give you that adorable feel of how beautiful mother nature really is. You cant believe that by the time the water reaches river semuliki, it has already cooled.

Meet Yura, The White Male Tiger in Uganda 🇺🇬.

Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) announced the name of the nearly 4 year old white male Bengal Tiger. Yura is the biggest of the 2 existing tigers at the center.

The name Yura symbolizes leadership, strength, majesty & fearlessness. The 2 tigers have been growing rapidly since there debut on 25th/Nov/2020. Yura is full of energy & learns new things everyday. His roar can be heard 3kms away. He feeds on 8 to 10Kgs of beef daily & other foods like liver, chicken & fresh goat.
